A wonderfully peculiar 1983 Oregon Coast souvenir depicting a wide-eyed sea creature peering from beneath an oversized clam-like shell.
🐚 A CURIOUS CREATURE FROM THE COAST
Part clam, part mysterious inhabitant of the deep, this strange little fellow comes to us from Depoe Bay on the Oregon Coast. Created in 1983, the figure features enormous black-and-white eyes peering from beneath an exaggerated shell-like form.
Its deeply textured molded surface has the appearance of hand-carved wood, with ridges and irregular details giving the creature considerably more character than one might expect from a tiny coastal souvenir.

The side is dated ©1983, while an original worn paper label remains on the underside identifying the piece with a gift shop in Depoe Bay, Oregon.
Among the stranger inhabitants of Whispers of the Deep, it feels like the sort of peculiar little creature one might discover washed ashore—or tucked into the back corner of an old seaside curiosity cabinet.
Display it among shells, maritime specimens, antique books, and ocean relics, or allow those enormous eyes to quietly supervise a sea witch altar.
