THE OBJECT
A wonderfully unusual vintage ceramic mermaid planter from Hull Pottery's Ebb Tide collection, formed as a fantastical shell with a mermaid rising from its edge. Deep burgundy, sea green, cream, and golden glazes pool across the sculptural surface, giving the piece an almost otherworldly quality.
The small shell-shaped basin was originally created as a planter, but its form lends itself beautifully to holding shells, crystals, flowers, offerings, or other collected treasures.
With its strange aquatic palette and unmistakable mermaid form, it feels as though it might have been recovered from somewhere beneath the tide—a natural relic for Whispers of the Deep.
