THE OBJECT
An exquisite 19th-century silver-plated basket, richly ornamented with grapevines, scrolling floral details, a scalloped rim, and three wonderfully sculptural claw feet.
At its center, clusters of grapes and curling leaves emerge from the heavily patinated silver surface, while the tall movable handle gives the vessel an especially elegant silhouette. Time has darkened the metal and settled into every recess of the decoration, beautifully emphasizing the intricacy of the original design.
The abundant grape motif gives the piece a natural connection to Dionysus, wine, harvest, fertility, and abundance, making it a particularly evocative offering vessel for an altar or sacred space. It may also be used as a cauldron, catchall, or simply displayed as the remarkable antique object it already is.

CONDITION
In good as-found antique condition with substantial patina and wear consistent with age. There are scattered marks and scuffs throughout, along with a few dents and areas of bending. No cracks or breaks are noted.
The heavily aged surface has been left intact and contributes beautifully to the character of the piece. Please examine the photographs closely, as they form part of the condition description.
