THE OBJECT
A fascinating antique magnifying glass by Bausch & Lomb Optical Co., the historic American optical manufacturer of Rochester, New York.
The circular glass lens is held within a black and gold-toned metal frame and elevated upon three small legs, creating an unusual little optical instrument designed to rest directly above the object being examined.
Compact, beautifully engineered, and wonderfully curious, it feels perfectly suited to The Cabinet—a functional instrument from another era made for the close examination of maps, photographs, printed pages, and other small details.
