THE OBJECT
A wonderfully unusual vintage Kimiko silver-plated sugar scuttle from Japan, formed like a miniature cauldron and accompanied by its original matching scoop. Elaborate raised floral and scrolling decoration covers the vessel, while a curved handle, pedestal base, and warm gold-toned interior give it beautiful old-world character.
Originally intended for serving sugar, its diminutive cauldron form translates naturally to the altar or apothecary—a charming vessel for dried herbs, botanicals, salts, crystals, incense blends, or other ritual materials. Equally compelling simply displayed as an ornate curiosity among collected objects.
