THE OBJECT
A commanding vintage plaster bust depicting Artemis—the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and childbirth, known to the Romans as Diana.
Rendered in heavy solid plaster with an aged metallic finish, the goddess rises from a wooden base with classical drapery falling across her shoulders. Time has softened the surface and left its marks throughout, giving the sculpture the presence of an object that has lived a life rather than a pristine reproduction.
At more than sixteen inches tall and remarkably substantial in weight, she is an imposing sculptural piece with an unmistakable presence.
DETAILS
Heavy solid plaster with wooden base.
Approx. 16½" tall × 6" wide at the base.
CONDITION
In good as-found vintage condition with age-related wear throughout, including surface scratches and several small chips.
The aged finish and imperfections are visible in the photographs and contribute to the timeworn character of the piece. Please examine the photographs closely, as they form part of the condition description.
